Black History is Church History exists to illuminate the rich heritage of Black and African contributions to the Christian faith. We are committed to uncovering and celebrating this under-taught history, honoring the enduring legacy of Black and African saints. Through education and reflection, we aim to deepen understanding and appreciation for God’s faithfulness to Black and African Christians throughout the ages.

Anthony English

New City Fellowship

Anthony English is the assistant director of Mission to the World’s West Coast office. He is currently enrolled at Birmingham Theological Seminary and pursuing a Master of Arts in Public Theology. He has a heart for evangelism and apologetics as well as teaching others how to share and defend their faith. He and his wife live in Northern California with their three boys and are members at New City Fellowship in Elk Grove, California.


Rev. Damon Richardson

Damon Richardson is an ordained Baptist minister who has served over the past 31 years in various ministry roles including senior pastor and teaching pastor. Damon currently preaches itinerantly and is the founder of UrbanLogia, an online theological and apologetics resource which specializes in the field of urban apologetics. Rev. Richardson has a passion for helping to equip ministers, church leaders and all believers biblically, theologically and apologetically. Damon hold’s an M.A. in Religious Studies and is a PhD candidate at Beulah Heights University in Atlanta, GA, where he resides with his wife Nadine and the younger two of their four children.

Joel McCarty

New Eden Church
Decatur, AL

Joel McCarty is an apprentice of King Jesus, a husband to Kristy, and a father to Kadyn, Everleigh, Scarlett, and Madi Wren. Alongside his team, Joel planted New Eden Church in Decatur, Alabama, and currently serves as the Pastor for Preaching. Before he was sent out to plant New Eden, he served for six years as the Pastor of Missional Life at Summit Crossing Limestone in Athens, Alabama.

Alexander Wade

Worthy Redeemer Church
Huntsville, AL

Alexander Wade serves Worthy Redeemer Church as the Lead Teaching Pastor. “Wade,” as his friends call him, studied marketing and played football at Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minnesota, In 2005 he came to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and fell in love with studying the scriptures and church history. In 2008 he met his wife, Alyssa, and together, they have four children, Harrison, Samson, Penelope, and Canaan. Pastor Wade completed his church planting residency in 2020. In September of 2021, Wade and Pastor Brian Metz planted Worthy Redeemer Church. Wade is currently continuing his theological studies at Reformed Baptist Seminary.
